“I want to create a psychological structure and a physical space where people can re-evaluate what happens in their subconscious. I want people to listen to their subconscious, and to not block out what happens in the back of their minds. I want to show characters who are not able to let go of past loves, and who try to enter happier and new relationships. At the same time, as they become happier around new people, guilt, shame, and regret emerges from their subconscious, and emerges from hurting people of the past. When we enter better situations in life, is it thus possible to forgive those who left us behind, and those we have forsaken? After all, if we forsake another person, we forsake our own heart as well.
My ultimate personal message with “Vancouver Rhapsody” is: “To forgive yourself for not being enough for the other party; because if love truly exists in your heart, then you are forever unforgettable.” -Betty Jiang, November 2016
